As trains pulled into the newly constructed Depot at the head of Benton (Right), guests poured into the Ozark Hotel (Far Right) and the 5 theaters gracing this exciting "NewTown".
As North Springfield from 1870 to 1887,
Commercial Street was the most exciting destination in the region.
Community leaders formed a Cultural & Business Organization to foster positive development and support this lively, thriving community. Commercial Club of Springfield was formed in the early 1900's.
